Every great site starts off with a great web design. For most people this is a hard and lengthily process to go through. One of the best ways to get some ideas going and find some inspiration is surfing the internet.
Spending time surfing and looking at different sites can be beneficial to your design. You can pick out the good, the bad, and the ugly designs.
Here are some great web design inspiration examples.
Tuts+ Network
Tuts+ Network is the main page for all their different websites. They have a site devoted to different multimedia sections. Including Photoshop, web development & design, Illustrator, music, videos and sound. The sites are well organized, easy, and color coordinated.
Veerle's Blog
Veerle’s Blog has a bit of everything from tutorials, articles, and what’s in the news. This site has great balance of colors and a really nice vector illustration for a header.
N.Design Studio
N.Design Studio is a company / blog that posts a bit of everything on web development. I love this blog's header. It has an explosion of colors and design that jumps out and grabs you.
Duirwaigh Studios
Duirwaigh Studios is probably the most unique design example I have found surfing around on the internet. It has unique illustrations, colors and feel, but keeps everything well organized and usable.
W3C Schools
If you have done web development, most likely you have been here. W3C School's current design has a nice and clean approach. This site has tons of content and information. Their design helps increase the usability of their site.
Fred Maya
Fed Maya’s site is a portfolio site that showcases his recent work and other things. This site is a "dark" site but has great balance and colors to achieve a great experience for the user.
NewEgg.com
Most e-commerce sites are a nightmare to use, but NewEgg is probably the best one out there. It has great search functions, navigation, and a clean design.
Metal CallOut
Metal CallOut is a grungy and dirty site example that has a clean and easy layout. The colors blend together nicely, but keeping plenty of whitespace so the user doesn’t get lost in all the text.
Newism
Newism has a great color tone through the site. Not to mention the clean images and transparent effect on the content area. Well organized and attractive.
I had to put Google on here because there is no site more clean and simple as Google.
Web Design Inspiration Goes Further
When looking for web design inspiration don't forget about the other pages on your site. You will get caught up looking at only the homepage. Remember that all sites go deeper than that. Try to pull from all areas.
